The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) is an independent study centre located in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. It was created as a Foundation in 1995 by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the University of Neuchâtel, the City and State of Neuchâtel.

First ‘CIES-UNA Gathering’ held: a mix of discussions and an introduction to Mexican sport and culture
The first “CIES-UNA Gathering” – was a great success. It took place between 29th – 30th June in Mexico City as part of the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup.
RESEARCH
The research conducted by CIES examines sport from multiple angles (Law, Sociology, Geography, History and Economics). The projects undertaken are part of both pure and applied research.
